This page provides an overview of the work that contributes to your final course grade. The assignment links connect you to descriptions for those projects and workshops. Sometime I embed instruction in a Canvas discussion forum instead, and will indicate when that is so. Note that I may choose to activate some or all assignment pages as we need them. Therefore, do not worry if you cannot access all of the descriptions at the beginning of the semester.
Your final course grade is computed from the points you earn on 6 projects and 10 workshops. Combined, these assignments total 1500 points. Review the category descriptions below to understand how workshops and projects differ in scope and complexity.

I use the term projects to categorize assignments that are significant undertakings, and that require development and refinement time that may span several weeks of the semester. You will complete 6 projects this semester that collectively contribute 1000 possible points to your course grade.

I use the term workshops to categorize assignments that provide knowledge building blocks to serve your work on projects. Such work can typically be completed within the space of a single class session. The concepts, strategies, and practices examined and executed during workshops build and reinforce your working knowledge of design relevant to the work of the course. You will complete 10 workshops this semester that collectively contribute 500 possible points to your course grade.
